PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan has appointed several new faces to its presidential council.

Among them are PKR communications chief and Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil, who will now head Pakatan’s communications arm.

Also appointed was DAP national organising chairman Anthony Loke.

The Seremban MP was appointed Opposition chief whip, replacing PKR Sungai Petani MP Datuk Johari Abdul.

Meanwhile, Parti Amanah Negara senator Aiman Athirah is replacing DAP’s Chong Eng to head the coalition’s Women’s wing.

Amanah deputy president and Pulai MP Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub has been appointed strategic director.

PKR Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was retained as the council’s chief secretary.

Also appointed as an executive council member was DAP Pasir Pinji assemblyman and Youth leader Howard Lee Chuan How.

Lee will lead the Opposition’s Youth wing, succeeding Amanah’s Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin who passed away recently from Covid-19 complications.

The appointments were announced through a joint statement issued on Sunday (Sept 12) by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.

“The presidential council would like to congratulate all who have been appointed.

“May these appointments strengthen our work in Parliament, in the field, and as we head towards the 15th General Election,” the leaders said in the statement.
