The Times says Foreign Office civil servants wanted to exclude Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, from this week’s summit on synthetic intelligence in Bletchley Park. The paper says the officers believed that after the beginning of the Israeli floor offensive in Gaza, his deal with – through a video hyperlink – could possibly be a distraction. However, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and Science and Technology Secretary Michelle Donelan had been angered by the recommendation and rejected it, the paper says.
