Ops Selamat 18: Selangor tops number of accidents and fatalities

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor has recorded the very best number of highway crashes and fatalities in the course of the Op Selamat 18 visitors operation as of Thursday (May 6).

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Razarudin Husain stated in the course of the seven days of the operation launched on April 29, Selangor recorded 2,448 accidents, adopted by Johor (1,632), Perak (1,160), Kuala Lumpur (991), Penang (953), Kedah (777) and Pahang (636).

An additional 597 circumstances had been reported in Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan (592), Melaka (484), Sarawak (386), Terengganu (384), Sabah (363) and Perlis (86).

“As for the number of fatalities, Selangor recorded 16 circumstances, adopted by Perak and Johor with 14 circumstances every, Pahang (11), Kelantan (11), Kedah (9), Penang (9), Negeri Sembilan (eight), Sarawak (eight), Terengganu (seven), Sabah (5), Kuala Lumpur (4), Perlis (three) and Melaka (two),” he advised Bernama.

Meanwhile, he stated some 1,673 accidents with 12 fatalities had been recorded nationwide on Thursday.

A complete of 214,750 visitors summonses have been issued for the reason that begin of the operation with 37,926 summonses issued on Thursday. – Bernama
