MADRID (Reuters) – Spanish police are investigating the disappearance of 4 members of the Cameroon women’s handball team, who apparently absconded from a lodge in Valencia, the place they have been competing in the World Championships.

The Cameroonian delegation reported the ladies as lacking on Thursday, a police spokesperson stated.

Police weren’t treating the disappearance as suspicious as the ladies left with all their belongings and there was no signal of a wrestle.

“It appears the ladies left of their very own accord,” the spokesperson stated, including that police had no theories as to the place they could have gone. The championships started on Dec. 1.

Athletes have steadily used worldwide sporting occasions to hunt asylum or escape poor situations in their residence nations, together with seven Cameroonians who disappeared throughout the 2012 London Olympics.
