IPOH: PAS will continue to support the Perikatan Nasional government and Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, says Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

The PAS deputy president said the party was following the developments to the current political situation closely and would continue to work together under Perikatan to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We will focus on combating the pandemic under the National Recovery Plan as set out by the government,” he said, adding that all statements from the party regarding the political crisis would only come from the party president and secretary-general.

“We are also committed to help those affected during this trying time,” he said in a statement Wednesday (Aug 4).

“We hope the people will be patient and work together towards overcoming the pandemic,” said Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Environment and Water Minister.

Muhyiddin had, during a special address on Wednesday, said he will not resign and would table a motion of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat in September.

His proposal was approved by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, whom he had sought an audience with earlier.

On Tuesday (Aug 3), Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the party would stand with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and called on all its MPs to rescind their support towards the Perikatan government after its special Supreme Council meeting.
