Pejuang says no to Melaka state polls for now

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) is not going to participate within the upcoming Melaka state election on Nov 20 as a result of ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, says its info chief Ulya Husamudin.

“We do not need the spike (of Covid-19 instances) in Sabah final 12 months to occur once more,” he stated on Monday (Oct 18).

Ulya stated Pejuang would solely contemplate contesting within the upcoming state election if the Election Fee (EC) can give you clearer normal working procedures (SOP) equivalent to having no bodily campaigning.

“If it might guarantee digital campaigns and no bodily campaigns, then we’ll contemplate.

“In the interim, we (will) hearken to the voices of the individuals and disagree with the state election,” he added.

The Sabah state election in September final 12 months triggered a recent wave of Covid-19 infections that lasted a number of months and each day figures peaked to greater than 20,000 infections per day.

The dissolution took place after 4 assemblymen declared that that they had misplaced confidence within the management of Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali as chief minister.
