PKR postpones congress to July 15, will audit party polls results

PETALING JAYA: Following complaints about its current elections, PKR will postpone its nationwide congress to July 15-17, says central committee member Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid.

The congress was initially slated for June 25 and 26.

Abdullah Sani stated this was a unanimous choice by the central committee after a prolonged assembly with its election committee at a lodge right here on Thursday (June 9) night time.

The Kapar MP stated the postponement of the congress was to permit a forensic audit of its unofficial election results launched final week.

“There are many complaints (on the party polls) they usually have to be resolved earlier than now we have the nationwide congress.

“We will permit a forensic audit to examine the complaints,” Abdullah Sani advised The Star on Friday (June 10).

He stated Thursday’s assembly involving party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and members of the central and election committees started at 8pm and ended at 1am.

“It was a critical affair. (There was additionally) a panel of inquiry and complaints, in addition to a panel on the forensic audit,” he added.

Former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak had known as for the congress to be postponed if the election results weren’t audited.
