PETALING JAYA: A PKR lawmaker has questioned why the vote of confidence for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is not slated in the Dewan Rakyat Order Paper on the first day of the upcoming Dewan Rakyat meeting.

Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil posted on Twitter on Tuesday (Sept 7) that he noticed the motion missing after received a copy of the Order Paper from Parliament.

“The first question on Sept 14 is from Jempol (BN-Jempol), followed by Port Dickson (PH-Port Dickson).

“Motions: to pick Deputy Speaker, Dewan Order for IGP to not obstruct MPs from entering Parliament, and motion of thanks to the Royal Address.

“There is no vote of confidence for the ninth Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob,” said Fahmi.

On Aug 23, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said had quit as the Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, citing several reasons including conflict of interest.

On Sunday (Sept 5), Attorney General Tan Sri Idrus Harun said that Ismail Sabri’s appointment as the ninth Prime Minister was made in accordance with the law and there is no necessity to legitimise it.

He added that any move to legitimise the Prime Minister’s appointment is not in line with provisions of the Federal Constitution and negates the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s powers as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
