Poets, artists and storytellers light up this year’s virtual Refugee Festival

This 12 months’s Refugee Festival in Malaysia might be held on-line, beginning right this moment until this Sunday.

Traditionally held in June to coincide with World Refugee Day, the competition needed to be postponed to a year-end date as a result of Covid-19 pandemic and lack of sources.

But the Refugee Festival artistic workforce, led by fest curator Saleh Sepas (a theatre director from Kabul, Afghanistan), has labored arduous to make this virtual occasion occur to mark the continued contributions by the refugee communities all over the world, to showcase their skills and to foster unity with host communities.

Poets and artists from greater than seven nations will participate within the competition this 12 months, which runs 2pm to 6pm every day.

The competition will even embrace quick movie, animation sequence and panel classes surrounding refugee and pandemic points.

“We believe in promoting solidarity and the value of tolerance among human beings through artistic and cultural activities, so we can get to know each other better and appreciate one another more,” outlines an announcement from Refugee Festival.
