KUALA LUMPUR: PKR’s Rafizi Ramli has predicted that the fifteenth General Election will be held in four months.
The celebration’s deputy president aspirant cited a number of causes for this, chief amongst them being the federal government’s MOU on cooperation with Pakatan Harapan, which states that Parliament is not going to be dissolved earlier than July 31, and the shut of the haj pilgrimage that month.
“Four months is a short time (from now). And I won’t be surprised if it is held in August or September.
“If I’m in Umno, I’d call for the general election to be held by the end of July,” he informed senior media editors at a Concorde Club discussion board on Thursday (March 31).
Rafizi lately introduced that he would contest the celebration’s No. 2 submit in the PKR polls scheduled in May.
The announcement took many abruptly as the previous Pandan MP had chosen to take a break from energetic politics in 2019 regardless of being a celebration vice-president.
Others described it as injecting optimism into the celebration, which had carried out poorly in the Sabah, Melaka, Sarawak and Johor state elections.
Rafizi, 45, had contested and misplaced the deputy presidency to the celebration’s then incumbent Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in 2018.
On newest developments regarding himself and the celebration, he declared that he was prepared to contest in Pandan once more if given the nod.
“Politicians must be focused on serving the people. It is usually politicians vying for party posts so that they can land government posts.
“Most are not interested in serving the people. That should not be the case,” he added.
Rafizi stated he had obtained encouraging response since saying his intention to contest the deputy presidency, including that his Ayuh Malaysia marketing campaign launched on Saturday was choosing up steam.
He stated the motion was launched to draw the assist of fence-sitters in preparation for GE15.
