Rescuers rush overweight Covid-19 patient to hospital when condition worsens

MELAKA: Rescuers rushed to the aid of an overweight Covid-19 patient gasping for oxygen at her home in Ayer Molek here.

Melaka Fire and Rescue Department operation unit chief Zulkhairani Ramli said the 49-year-old, 150kg woman had to be hoisted from her bed and rushed to the Melaka Hospital after she suffered from severe breathing difficulties.

He said a distress call was made at 1.19pm on Saturday (June 26) and his men rushed to the victim’s house to help resuscitate her.

“She was then rushed to the hospital,” he said.

Zulkhairani added the victim was under home quarantine after testing positive but has since been placed in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
