(Reuters) – Russian lawmakers will suggest measures in search of punishment for the implementation of sanctions on Russia’s territory, a senior lawmaker mentioned on Sunday.

“My colleagues from the State Duma and I’ve completed the work and on Monday we’ll introduce amendments to the Criminal Code for the implementation of restrictive measures (sanctions) imposed by international states on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Andrei Klishas wrote on his Telegram channel.

“We sit up for immediate consideration of the amendments by the State Duma.”

Klishas didn’t specify how Russia would establish or punish those that applied sanctions.

Russian lawmakers in early March handed amendments to the code making the unfold of “faux” data an offence punishable by fines or jail phrases. They imposed fines for public calls for sanctions in opposition to Russia.

Western allies of Ukraine have applied a collection of sanctions on Russia for the Feb. 24 invasion on Ukraine that Moscow calls a “particular operation,” and has killed hundreds of Ukrainians and ship hundreds of thousands fleeing the nation.
