Sarawak polls: Clear sweep on the playing cards for GPS if it maintains robust staff spirit, says Abang Jo

KUCHING: A clear sweep is on the playing cards for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) within the coming state election if it maintains a powerful staff spirit, says Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He mentioned the ruling state coalition was heading into the polls as a staff to uphold Sarawak’s rights and safe the state’s future.

“We need to look to the longer term and we’re assured we are able to ship as much as 2030 with our post-Covid-19 restoration plan.

“So, our future is assured as much as 2030, God keen.

“If we go into the battlefield in a single spirit, we are able to sweep all 82 seats,” he mentioned when launching the GPS election equipment at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters right here Sunday evening (Nov 28).

Abang Johari thanked Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and Barisan Nasional for staying out of the state election, saying they understood that Sarawak’s politics have been completely different from Peninsula Malaysia.

“They know that we’re pleasant however agency. All alongside we’ve got mentioned GPS will discipline candidates in all 82 seats,” he mentioned.

Abang Johari added that there could be new faces within the GPS line-up as some incumbents had determined to step down.

Amongst these not defending their seats are former Tebedu assemblyman Datuk Amar Michael Manyin, Datuk Wahab Abdul Aziz (Kalaka) and Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mahmud (Stakan), he mentioned.

“They’re giving approach to new faces as a result of that’s our tradition,” he added.

The state election will happen on Dec 18, with nominations on Dec 6.

GPS held 68 of the 82 seats within the state legislature previous to its dissolution on Nov 3.
