Singapore’s Lee says finance minister to succeed him as PM

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong confirmed on Saturday that Finance Minister Lawrence Wong would succeed him as the city-state’s subsequent chief.

Wong had been chosen as chief of the ruling People’s Action Party’s (PAP) so-called fourth technology (4G) workforce, paving the best way for him to doubtlessly develop into the city-state’s subsequent prime minister, in accordance to an announcement on Thursday.

“The plan is for Lawrence to succeed me as PM, both earlier than or after (if the PAP wins) the subsequent General Election. It is due in 2025 and can certainly be a troublesome battle,” Lee stated in a social media submit on Saturday.
