Skudai rep criticised over choice of attire at Johor assembly

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A state government councillor has reprimanded Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim over the choice of attire.

Johor youth, sports activities, entrepreneur growth, cooperatives and human assets committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah stated it went towards the House guidelines.

The 33-year-old first time DAP assemblyman was singled out by the exco member whereas giving her debate throughout the state assembly assembly at Bangunan Sultan Ismail right here on Tuesday (June 21).

“He (Mohd Hairi) sounded me for not wearing a headscarf as according to the House rules, as a Muslim, I must wear it,” she stated when contacted by the media right here.

Mohd Hairi, who’s the Larkin assemblyman, reprimanded Marina, citing the rules on attire code for elected representatives at the Johor assembly.

Deputy Speaker Datuk Samsolbari Jamali then learn out the attire code for elected representatives at the august House.

He stated feminine elected representatives should put on baju kurung Johor in the event that they have been Muslims and will put on a headband or cowl their head with a scarf.

“However, as this is the first time that the Skudai rep is present in the august House, I shall let the matter go. Please take this as an advice,” he stated in his ruling Tuesday (June 21).
