SEREMBAN: A 10-day Deepavali carnival will be held here from Oct 25 in conjunction with the Festival of Lights, says state non-Muslim affairs, human resources and plantations committee chairman J. Arul Kumar.

However, only 70 stalls would be allowed to be up at the site along Jalan Dato Lee Fong Yee compared to the 120 in previous years.

“The number of stalls need to be reduced to allow all parties to comply with the Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures.

“Also, there will be no cultural performance this year as we do not want people to gather,” he said in a Facebook post.

He said the Deepavali Carnival organising committee had received applications from 87 traders to put up stalls.

Of these, 66 have been picked through a balloting exercise.

Negri Sembilan entered into Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan on Sept 24.
