SME Bank offers assistance to customers involving RM5.4b in loans

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 3,726 customers involving a total financing of RM5.4bil will benefit from SME Bank’s moratorium assistance through the SRP Pemulih (SRP- SME Relief Programme).

It said in a statement on Thursday it is offering moratorium assistance up to six months and extension of repayment period up to 12 months effective July 2021.

SME Bank group president and CEO Aria Putera Ismail said the SRP Pemulih was not only for moratorium, “but we also offer extension of the financing period enabling customers to manage their cash flow more effectively”.

He said prior to this, SME Bank had offered SRP 1.0 and 2.0 packages respectively which aimed to restore businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

For SRP 1.0, SME Bank assisted 3,084 customers with financing value of RM4.1bil. As for SRP 2.0 which was in the form of targeted assistance, 311 customers had benefited with financing value worth more than RM248mil.

Aria said SME Bank had been proactive in helping SME entrepreneurs since the outbreak of the Covid-19.

Sectors that received SME Bank’s attention were the tourism and passenger transport sectors which were the most affected sectors due to the pandemic. Other sectors that also received assistance includes the services, retail and construction sectors.

SME Bank will be organising the SME Bank XCESS 2021 programme virtually on July 26. This national level business matching program will bring together 20 anchor companies, nine private equity companies, government agencies, GLCs and private sectors which will offer direct assistance to the entrepreneurs.
