MILAN (Reuters) – Carmaker Stellantis will again cease operations at its Melfi plant in Italy for seven working days due to semiconductor shortages, a union consultant stated on Thursday.

Operations shall be stopped on Saturday and restarted on March 28 due to an absence of engine management models due to the chip shortage, stated Marco Lomio, native head of UILM metalworkers union.

“When components are shipped we work, after we do not obtain them, we do not work, that is the scenario,” Lomio stated.

Stellantis declined to remark.
