PETALING JAYA: Police have closed 5 roads across the Bangsar LRT station since 7am on Saturday (Jan 22) in anticipation of a deliberate demonstration to demand motion towards Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

On Friday (Jan 21) evening, rally organisers determined to move the venue of road protest after police introduced that the preliminary level of Sogo shopping center as a prohibited space.

The police have obtained an order from the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court banning any gatherings at Dataran Merdeka, Sogo and Masjid Jamek for seven days.

Following the courtroom order, the police would divert site visitors alongside six main roads inside Dang Wangi from 7am till the top of the gathering.

“The roads involved are Jalan Kuching, Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Maharajalela, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jalan Imbi and Jalan Sultan Ismail.

“Operations at 25 MRT, LRT, Monorail and KTM stations within the Dang Wangi area will also be temporarily ceased from 7am,” Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya informed reporters yesterday.

A gaggle calling itself the Arrest Azam Baki Action Committee says it is going to organise a protest to induce the authorities to take motion within the share-trading case involving Azam Baki.

In a press release on Telegram on Tuesday (Jan 18), the group mentioned it will stage a rally outdoors Sogo in Kuala Lumpur at 11am on Saturday (Jan 22).

The committee desires the authorities to arrest Azam instantly, provoke authorized proceedings towards him and reshuffle the MACC whereas placing it underneath the purview of Parliament.

“The rakyat have been left and not using a passable rationalization from the federal government so the Arrest Azam Baki Action Committee will head to the streets to protest peacefully,” the assertion learn.
