(Reuters) – Simona Halep wanted lower than an hour to beat Petra Martic 6-1 6-1 on Wednesday and advance to the semi-finals of the WTA Indian Wells event for the fourth time.
The Romanian went up a break at 2-1 within the first set after her Czech opponent double-faulted, and Halep reeled off the subsequent six video games behind assured groundstrokes and exact serving.
The event’s 2015 champion was by no means actually pushed, successful 55 factors to Martic’s 21.
The unseeded Martic had notched spectacular wins over Twenty eighth-seeded Ludmilla Samsonova and U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu en path to the quarter-final, however appeared to expire of fuel below sunny skies within the California desert.
