The second-hand clothes commerce is a well-established enterprise in Chile.

Traders import undesirable clothes – primarily from Europe and the US – to resell regionally and to different Latin American nations.

But greater than half of the 60,000 tonnes of garments imported annually finally ends up in unlawful desert landfills, with dire penalties for the atmosphere and the local people.
