Local telco U Mobile has launched its own fibre broadband plans, which includes a 1Gbps plan, in selected residential areas in Melaka, Cyberjaya, Perak and Kedah.

The Ultra Unlimited Home Fibre Broadband plans are available in three speeds, starting at the 100Mbps plan at RM129 per month, the 500Mbps plan at RM199 per month and the 1Gbps plan for RM299 per month.

The telco is also offering a 50% discount on select fibre subscription plans to its new and existing customers on selected postpaid data plans.

Those who sign up before Dec 16, 2021 and complete their home fibre installation by Jan 15, 2022 will get their first month’s bill waived, according to the telco.

Running on Allo Technology Sdn Bhd’s fibre infrastructure, the plans come with a two-year contract, inclusive of modem and installation.

In a press release, the telco stated that the plans will be available as a pilot following a partnership between U Mobile and Allo Technology, a wholly-owned company under Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

“U Mobile is excited to be partnering with Allo as it marks the start of our foray into fibre broadband. We will definitely be looking to widen our unlimited fibre broadband offering to more customers at more locations in the coming months,” said U Mobile chief marketing officer Jasmine Lee.

Allo’s chief executive officer Rodzi Ahmad said the collaboration was in line with the company’s purpose of providing last-mile reach to high-speed fibre broadband via its Open Access Network.

U Mobile’s Ultra Home Unlimited Home Fibre Broadband plans are available from today.
