LONDON (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had a birthday party during the primary COVID-19 lockdown in June 2020 when social gatherings indoors have been banned, ITV News reported on Monday.

The broadcaster stated it was alleged the prime minister’s spouse, Carrie Johnson, helped organised the party on the afternoon of June 19.

Up to 30 individuals attended the occasion within the Cabinet Room of Number 10, his workplace and residence, ITV stated.

The report provides to the strain on Johnson over a collection of gatherings at Number 10 that will appear to have damaged the COVID-19 lockdown guidelines imposed by his authorities.

Senior bureaucrat Sue Gray has been investigating the events and is predicted to publish a report later this week.

In response to the birthday party allegation, Johnson’s workplace advised ITV: “A bunch of employees working in No 10 that day gathered briefly within the Cabinet Room after a assembly to want the Prime Minister a pleased birthday. He was there for lower than ten minutes.”
