Ukraine president says any compromises with Russia will require a referendum

LVIV, Ukraine (Reuters) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Monday mentioned any compromises agreed with Russia to finish the struggle would have to be voted on by Ukrainians in a referendum.

“The individuals will have to talk up and reply to this or that type of compromise. And what they (the compromises) will be is the topic of our talks and understanding between Ukraine and Russia,” he mentioned in an interview revealed by Ukrainian public broadcasting firm Suspilne.

Issues that might be raised in any referendum might concern territories occupied by Russian forces, together with Crimea, or safety ensures provided to Ukraine by international locations in lieu of NATO membership, he mentioned.
