Resentment of Moscow in Ukraine has deep historic roots. In the Great Famine of the Nineteen Thirties, as many as 4 million Ukrainians died throughout the pressured collectivisation of farms by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. The BBC’s Fergal Keane has been to the japanese metropolis of Kharkiv, near the Russian border, and met a few of the final survivors of the famine.
