PETALING JAYA: An Umno supreme council member has urged the government to approve the application of Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s political party, Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda).

Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi said this after the prime minister’s older brother, Kamarazaman Yaakob, set up his own political party, Parti Kuasa Rakyat.

Puad added that there was no reason to be afraid of Syed Saddiq.

“Same but not the same. Now there are two PKR parties – Parti Keadilan Rakyat and Parti Kuasa Rakyat. Let’s not just approve the registration of the new PKR but also Muda,” he said in a Facebook post Monday (Oct 11).

“Better to approve (the registration of) both parties,” he added.

Puad also took a jibe at Datuk Seri Azmin Ali by asking when he would be setting up his own political party.

Recently, Kamarazaman set up Parti Kuasa Rakyat, which is said to be a multiracial party.

He had also said that the party would leave it to Barisan Nasional whether to accept it as part of the coalition.

Kamarazaman has not registered a new party but is taking over a party which will have an annual general meeting (AGM) soon to decide on the new name and leadership change.
