Viral video leads to female wheelie rider, pillion’s arrest in Batu Pahat


BATU PAHAT: A viral video of a female motorcyclist with her male pillion rider doing a wheelie stunt has led to their arrest by the police.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said the police spotted the video, which went viral on social media, showing the suspects performing the stunt at around 2.30pm on Friday (May 21).

“Investigations so far revealed that the stunt, which lasted about 31 seconds, took place along Jalan Dato’ Syed Esa here on May 10.

“Based on information, police arrested the 21-year-old female motorcyclist and the 16-year-old male pillion rider at their respective homes along Jalan Pantai here at around 4.45pm on Friday,” he said here on Saturday (May 22).

ACP Ismail also added that during the arrest, police also seized a motorcycle used by the suspects to perform the dangerous stunt.

“However, the two suspects have since been released on police bail,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 2020).

He advised the public not to perform any dangerous stunts that would put their lives and other road users in danger, and parents should keep a close watch on their children.
