Team GB freestyle skier Izzy Atkin says she has withdrawn from the big air competitors on the Winter Olympics as she continues her restoration from a damaged pelvis.

Atkin aims to nonetheless compete in Beijing in the slopestyle – the occasion in which she gained Olympic bronze in 2018.

The 23-year-old broke her pelvis on the Dew Tour in Colorado in December.

Writing on social media, she mentioned she was “proud” to be again on skis after simply six weeks.

“I nonetheless have some targets I would like to meet (and physician’s clearance) earlier than I hurl myself by a slopestyle run once more but I could not be happier to be again doing what I like.

The ladies’s slopestyle takes place on 14 February, whereas Atkin’s youthful sister, Zoe, will make her Olympic debut in the halfpipe on 17-18 February.

Bankes wins World Cup bronze

Elsewhere, Charlotte Bankes took bronze in the ultimate snowboard cross World Cup earlier than the Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
