BUTTERWORTH: Police detained 6 people including a woman for having a wild party with drugs at a house here on Wednesday (June 9).

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the suspects, aged between 21 to 38, were arrested by a team of police from state police headquarters in an operation to ensure compliance during the lockdown.

“When police raided the house, the suspects were enjoying their party and did not realise the presence of police,”he said.

ACP Noorzainy said during the raid police found a loud speaker and a laser display machine that were used for the wild party.

ACP Noorzainy said the suspects were detained under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 10 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Regulations 2021 for violating the lockdown by gathering for entertainment.

He said all the suspects and the confiscated items were brought to North Seberang Prai police headquarters for further action.

He said urine test results found that five of them including the woman were drug-positive.

ACP Noorzainy said operations such as these will continue to ensure that the public comply with SOP and at the same time to prevent immoral activities.

He said since the lockdown was implemented the district police had issued compounds to 191 individuals for violating SOP as of June 9.

He said the total compounds worth RM725, 500 and among the SOP violations were inter-state and district travel offenses.
