Cops seize contraband beer, liquor in Puchong factory raid

SERDANG: Police have seized contraband beer and liquor value RM32,000 with unpaid duties value an estimated RM145,000 after raiding a factory at Taman Perindustrian Puchong right here.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm A.A Anbalagan stated police raided the premises on Jalan TPP, 1/19 there at round 5pm on Jan 22.

“We arrested a 29-year-old Bangladesh nationwide who labored there.

“Further checks led to the seizure of a cell phone, a lorry and 11,376 cans of beer and 600 bottles of liquor,” he instructed reporters on the Serdang police headquarters on Wednesday (Jan 26).

He stated police had been now investigating the supply of the contraband beer.

“It is learnt that a few of the bins of beers got here from a neighbouring nation, so we try to confirm this.

“We consider a syndicate was utilizing the factory as a storage facility to retailer the illicit gadgets,” he stated, including that the syndicate is believed to be lively for a minimum of 5 or 6 months.

ACP Anbalagan stated the case was being investigated beneath Section 135(1)(D) of the Customs Act for possessing or promoting contraband gadgets and Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act for not having a legitimate cross or allow to remain in Malaysia.

He stated police would proceed with their operations on such syndicates.
