Dalai Lama invited to speak on climate change at Abim’s Islam-Buddhism eco dialogue

PETALING JAYA: The 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso has been invited to speak on climate change points at a dialogue organised by the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (Abim).

Abim president Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz stated the Tibetan Buddhist non secular chief could be one among a number of international mental figures at the Islam & Buddhism Eco Dialogue (IBED 2022) to be held on Jan 15 and 16.

“Abim (views) the issue of climate change hitting the world today with serious concern.

“Abim stresses that the major disasters occurring in recent times, including those currently faced by our country, are the impact of climate change happening around the world.

“Abim, together with the Tibetan Buddhist Culture Centre (TBCC), Universiti Malaya (UM) and several collaborators will be organising IBED 2022 featuring world intellectual figures from Islam and Buddhism as one of the ways to find solutions to the impact of climate change as well as to create awareness among the global community,” he stated in an announcement on Monday (Jan 3).

Other invited figures are Prof Datuk Dr Osman Bakar, Dr Reza Shah Kazemi, Prof Dr KL Dhammajoti, Dr Bhikkhuni Dhammananda and Datuk Prof Dr Azizan Baharudin.
