KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) decision to allow visiting on the respective first day of Hari Raya and Gawai Dayak is reasonable and considerate, said Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos.

“Now that the government has made this decision, we can only hope that the people will comply strictly and confine their visits to immediate family members only and with a maximum of 20 persons.”

“How will compliance with these conditions be ensured? Will people comply with the conditions when visiting? It is not easy to answer,” he added.

He hoped that this would not bring about new Covid-19 infection cases, and instead the downward trend would be maintained with no new spikes.

“If there are Covid-19 spikes, we fear that we will face a second wave and another round of the movement control order (MCO).”

He said it was still a challenging time now, where any crowd could pose a risk of Covid-19 infection.
