KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has managed to remedy a 12-year-old rape case utilizing DNA evidence.
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan stated police arrested a 40-year-old man at a goat-rearing farm in Balik Pulau round 3.30pm on Thursday (April 7).
“He was arrested in reference to the rape of a 15-year-old lady at a workshop in Sungai Pinang, 12 years in the past.
“A scientific investigation utilizing DNA information managed to determine the suspect in the case,” he stated in an announcement on Friday (April 8).
The suspect has been remanded till April 13, he stated.
“The police have by no means given up in gathering leads and data on the case till we managed to determine the suspect.
“We are in the midst of finishing the investigation, and the investigation paper can be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for prosecution,” Comm Abd Jalil stated.
