In June 2022 the OEP introduced it was investigating whether or not England’s regulators, Ofwat and the Environment Agency, together with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) had failed to fulfill their obligation to observe water corporations’ launch of sewage and implement the principles.
