Intercity train derails in Argentina, injuring 21

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) – An intercity train in Argentina has derailed close to the japanese city of Olavarría, injuring no less than 21 individuals, native authorities stated on Tuesday.

Video pictures confirmed the passenger train with many carriages off the rails, some turned over on their sides, in the center of fields in a rural space of the South American nation.

“At the second, 21 passengers have obtained therapy on the hospital,” Olavarría mayor Ezequiel Galli wrote on Twitter, including that 5 have been kids who had now been discharged and {that a} 40-year-old passenger had suffered a cranial harm.

He stated all these damage had minor accidents and have been being taken care of.

“The remainder of the passengers are being transferred to the Olavarría Municipal Exhibition Center (CEMO) the place they may obtain acceptable consideration till they’ll restart their journey,” Galli added.

Trenes Argentinos, the state-owned firm that operates the nation’s train community, confirmed the accident in a press release on Twitter, saying the causes weren’t but identified and have been nonetheless underneath investigation.

The 333 train connects the capital metropolis of Buenos Aires with the port metropolis of Bahía Blanca.
