JOHOR BARU: The state government will be announcing a stimulus package next week to help the state’s economy and help those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said that the state’s Economic Stimulus Plan 3.0 will be a continuation of the existing two packages announced last year.
He added that under the latest package, the focus would not just be about providing handouts to those affected, but also to enhance the state’s management of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Once announced next week, I expect the handouts to reach the people as soon as possible,” he added.
Under the first stimulus package, some RM167mil was spent to help 295,464 people, while the second stimulus package saw RM109mil spent to help 387,674 people.
“I hope this stimulus will reach those in need and help prime the state’s economy,” he said.
On the RM40bil stimulus package announced by the Prime Minister on Monday (May 31), he said the state welcomed all the initiatives outlined.
“I am confident that these initiatives will be able to increase the capacity of the public health system, and help the people and businesses,” he added.
