KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty 9 foreigners had been detained for varied offences throughout a Highway Transport Division (JPJ) operation right here.
Federal Territories JPJ director Mohd Zaki Ismail stated his division carried out an operation to weed out unlawful immigrant motorists on Thursday (Dec 2).
“The operation was held along with the Immigration Division between 9am and 12pm and concerned 42 JPJ personnel and 10 Immigration Division personnel.
“We checked 750 automobiles and took motion on 62 throughout the operation,” he advised reporters on the scene close to Taman Tasek Tambahan right here on Thursday.
He stated they seized 5 lorries, two vans and 18 bikes.
“We issued notices for not having licenses (72), not having items driving licenses (9), driving with expired insurance coverage (10) and technical offences (27).
“A complete of 29 foreigners had been additionally detained for not having legitimate paperwork.
“It’s unfair for them to share the street with motorists particularly when a few of them do not need legitimate insurance coverage or licenses,” he stated including that the operation can be ongoing.
