In his letter, Lord Geidt added that former Cabinet Secretary Lord Butler had represented his place “exactly” when he mentioned, in a BBC interview on Thursday, that he had believed he mustn’t “be requested to present superior cowl to the prime minister the place there may be contemplation of doing one thing which may be in breach of worldwide regulation”.
