GEORGE TOWN: Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) executive director Datuk M.Ramachandran was slashed by unknown assailants at his home at 7pm on Friday (July 23).

PHEB chairman Dr P. Ramasamy said the executive director was attacked by three or four assailants as soon as he got out of his car.

Ramasamy said after visiting the 70-year-old Ramachandran that the latter received cuts all over his body and added that his condition was not described as serious.

“He was admitted to the Emergency Ward of the Bukit Mertajam Hospital yesterday after the incident. I visited him around 10pm yesterday, even managing to have a few words with him,” said Ramasamy

“He was conscious enough to ask me whether he was attacked or not and I told him he was attacked,” he added on Saturday (July 24).

Ramasamy said Ramachandran was then transferred to the Seberang Jaya Hospital.

“A police report was made by his wife and son-in-law yesterday after the incident and police are looking for possible suspects behind the attack,” he said.
