Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a free transfer from Arsenal.

The 32-year-old Gabon striker signed a contract late on Monday night, though it was introduced on Wednesday.

Aubameyang’s deal runs till 30 June 2025 and consists of an choice to agree a departure in June 2023, plus a buyout clause of 100 million euros (£83.4m).

Barcelona feared the transfer was useless at one level on transfer deadline day regardless of Aubameyang being in Spain.

Aubameyang, who scored 92 objectives in 163 video games for Arsenal, had not performed for the Gunners following a disciplinary breach in December.

The striker flew to Spain on Monday to signal for the Spanish giants and was pictured coaching with them on Tuesday.

Arsenal signed Aubameyang for £56m from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, however his departure on a free transfer comes after he was stripped of the captaincy following a modern disciplinary problem.

He had beforehand been dropped in March and subsequently missed the win over north London rivals Tottenham due to a “breach of pre-match protocol”.
