THE latest Korean narrative to affix Disney+’s rising library of Korean leisure is Soundtrack #1.
Park Hyung Sik returns to the romance style following the success of his comeback drama Happiness, starring on this Disney+ drama as Han Sun-woo. Joining him is Han So Hee, who first rose to prominence in South Korea’s highest-rated cable TV drama World of the Married, and demonstrated her flexibility as an actor in two blockbuster Netflix dramas, My Name and Nonetheless. Here she stars as Han’s love curiosity Lee Eun-soo.
Soundtrack #1 is about in modern-day South Korea and follows struggling songwriter Eun-soo and her closest good friend of 19 years, Sun-woo, who’s given the project of composing successful tune about unrequited love, and the duo discover themselves immediately residing collectively and discussing their private love tales as a way to full the tune.
Sun-woo, unbeknownst to Eun-soo, has lengthy hid his real emotions for her out of worry of upsetting their friendship and dropping her eternally. As the story progresses and the 2 proceed to spend each waking second collectively, unstated emotions come up, forcing them to tread a slim line between friendship and romance. It’s almost troublesome to not fall in love with the 2 principal characters and their chemistry on this sequence. Soundtrack #1 leans on its star energy and lures us in with the mild and hazy glow of a pleasing metropolis neighbourhood stuffed by good-looking but disgruntled artists, sticking to typical romance cliches and a primary and acquainted plot.
However, it was a horrible choice to make this a four-episode sequence. A lengthier run of episodes would pique our curiosity, presumably by delving into every lead’s background and Sun-woo’s ideas on the way it all started, which might correctly clarify why we should always root for this couple.
Still, Soundtrack #1 is a splendidly enjoyable sequence that lasts about 40 minutes per episode, and is extraordinarily straightforward to look at.
