The prime minister has “trashed the repute of a proud and honourable celebration” a Tory MP has claimed.
Roger Gale mentioned Boris Johnson had despatched ministers “successfully to lie on his behalf” in interviews over his handling of claims towards former deputy chief whip Chris Pincher.
The Tory MP, who has been a critic of the prime minister, added: “It can not go on like this.”
