Zafrul skips around Kuala S’gor candidacy talk

PUTRAJAYA: The Finance Minister is enjoying coy over talk that he’s eyeing the Kuala Selangor parliamentary seat for the approaching normal election.

Days after asserting that his ministry would “adopt” the constituency, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz sidestepped questions on his doable candidacy.

“At the moment I am focused on my work at the ministry. There are a lot of issues that we are facing that need to be resolved,” he mentioned.

“We also have to focus on economic recovery. So let me focus on that,” he mentioned at a Hari Raya do yesterday.

Asked if he can be a candidate within the fifteenth General Election (GE15), Tengku Zafrul gave the identical reply.

“I’m focusing on my work for now,” he mentioned.

Talk is rife that he shall be contesting the seat, now held by Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, after Tengku Zafrul introduced his intention to make Kuala Selangor the “adopted district” of the ministry.

Although he mentioned the “adoption” was to make sure the progress of the district within the close to future, it has solely fuelled hypothesis of his candidacy for the seat.
